GT GTR Series Road/Racing Bike Review

Choose your weapon! GT may have gotten its start in BMX racing but their road bikes are strong and fast too. The "GTR Series" bikes are called entry level racing bikes, by GT, GT GTR Series 2 Road Bikewhich really means that they cost a lot less than their top of the line racers. Based on the GT bikes that I've reviewed, all of their bike lines are high quality so you can save some money on this "series".

The GTR Series bikes come in four price/component levels (see the model comparisons below) all of which are designed with aluminum frames, carbon forks, quality shimano derailers and break levers and a cool look.

Depending on where you live, it may be hard to find all of the different Series models, to review, at bike shops but you can usually find a good selection of these bikes online (although not all online merchants will carry all of the Series levels).

GT GTR Series Features at a Glance: The GT GTR Series bikes have aluminum alloy frames, carbon forks, all Shimano derailers and shifters (see specific model for types), a selection of colors for each model and 700x23c tires.

Note: As of 2/1/2012 the 2011 GT GTR Series 2 is selling for $899 (new) at Performance Bike. See GT Series Bikes at PerformanceBike.com for the latest price and additional customer reviews. *

See GT Road Bikes at REI for their current selection of GT Series bikes

Note (also): GT bikes can be ordered online but must be delivered for store pickup.

GT GTR Series Model Comparisons:

The GT Series bikes have 4 price/component levels. The prices go down as the level goes up so the GT Series 1 is the most expensive and the GT Series 4 is the least expensive. The differences with the Series bikes are primarily with the derailers, shifters and components.

See the Performance Bike linksĀ or the REI bike links (above) for their automated comparison feature to see the specific details.

About-Bicycles Review:

The GT Series road bikes are great ("entry level") aluminum and carbon road and racing bikes at excellent prices. They are light weight and the high quality components work well.

I was actually looking for some negative comments in the online reviews and could not find any relevant "Cons" on this bike. It is rated highly by customers and few have any complaints.

Definitely a good selection for an entry level or recreational level racing bike.
