The Deer Grove Unpaved "Mountain" Bike Trail -
Photos 5

This is still in the ravine area off of the orange trail (abandon Forest Preserve road and
area). There is what looks to be a home made bridge. It works, but it's a little rough...

OK, we exited the back trails and are actually in the more accessible part of Deer Grove
West. This bridge is a little easier :-). This is right by the lake at the bottom of the
toboggan and sledding hills (which, btw, are actually a GREAT place to sled in the
winter!)
This is the lake that I am talking about... It is really beautiful on a nice sunny fall
day (like the day I went out for these photos).

OK, we got back onto the trail system and I got a few photos of the orange, abandoned
Forest preserve road, section. I'm not sure if the photos capture the look and feel of
this trail. It is a really beautiful wooded area. This photo is looking back (downhill) at
the bridge.

This one is looking uphill (orange trail).

This is close to the top of that particular hill... When you go a little bit further down
this part, you will get to the west entrance to Deer Grove off of Dundee road, almost at
Northwest Hwy... The orange trail goes up another hill after the parking lot, but that is
the end at the top of the hill...
One little side note, quite a few years ago, when I would go to the top
of the hill and the end of the orange trail (there is an old turnaround there), I would
occasionally run into a pack of wild deer... (OK, maybe they don't call them
"packs" and I believe almost all deer are wild... but it was still kind of
cool... :-) )
