Proform 6.0ES Recumbent Bike Review
Sturdy Recumbent with Built-In Boredom Relief

Proform's mid-range recumbent, the Proform 6.0ES is a sturdy and comfortable Recumbent Exercise Bike that comes with Proform's new console with the built-in graphical Race Track Display in addition to being iFit compatible for even more boredom relief and motivational features. Proform 6.0 ES Recumbent exercise Bike

Before getting into the boredom relief features of any fitness bike, you need to have a solid and comfortable bike that you are willing to ride long enough to potentially get bored.

The Proform 6.0ES starts with a good ergonomic design and comfortable, heavily padded seat that is easily adjustable to the perfect position with the large easy to use seat adjustment lever (vs the more difficult adjustment knobs).

Next they go on to add both upper and lower handlebars (for additional hand positions and less fatigue), hand-grip heart-rate monitors (in the lower handlebars) a water bottle holder and it has a 300lb weight capacity which is a good indication of how sturdy the bike is regardless of your actual weight.

Now just in case of the remote possibility that you could get a little bored after sitting on an fitness bike for long periods of time :-), you also get some built-in and optional boredom relief features.

Note: The Proform 6.0ES Recumbent is currently unavailable (was selling directly from Proform for $449).

Fortunately this model has been replaced with the much improved Proform 440 ES (more on this model soon). See ProForm 440 ES Recumbent for the latest deals, customer reviews, videos or to purchase this bike online at the lowest price.

Built-In (and External) Boredom Relief Features

It pretty much goes without saying that you can always use external devices for boredom relief when available such as a TV near your bike, a magazine, laptop or mobile device ~ your hands are available and you are in a comfortable position for these devices on Recumbent Exercise bikes ~ and music via an MP3 or iPod with ear buds/phones or through the compatible jack and sound system that is built-in to the bike.

Next you have the built-in features which include Proform's new console with the graphical Race Track Display. This is what sets this bike apart from the other older mid-range Proform bikes. This may not sound that exciting but there is something more satisfying about watching your progress on a graphical display rather than just watching digital numbers changing.

You also get 22 Built-in Workout Apps and have 20 Resistance Levels. Most recumbent fitness bikes will come with at least a few workout programs and resistance levels but the Proform 6.0ES just has more to choose from.

Optional Boredom Relief and Motivational Features

OK, let's say that you purchased your Proform 6.0 ES stand alone, without the optional iFit Live technology, and you've spent countless hours getting fit, losing weight and using your favorite built-in apps many times though out your fitness routine and the old indoor exercise boredom starts to creep back into your routine...

Now you still have more motivational options available to you with the iFit Live Technology.

The iFit Live adapter and iFit account are sold separately (currently the adapter goes for about $99 and includes a 1 year Free subscription to an iFit Live account). See our iFit Live Summary for more on this.

With iFit Live you can get more workout apps, via your wireless wifi connection, upload and share data with your family and friends and track your progress online. This is actually a strong motivational tool.

You can also connect to Google Maps and select an existing route or you can create your own customized course (like a local bike route or trail that you like to ride) which can then be download to your bike.

The virtual rides are downloaded to your iFit Live transmitter then the app controls the resistance levels of your fitness bike ~ to adjust for hills and changes in elevation ~ while you ride the course.

About-Bicycles Review

The Proform 6.0ES is a sturdy, comfortable and easy to adjust Recumbent Exercise Bike that is very affordable and comes with Proform's more advanced graphical console which includes their Race Track Display.

I like the seat on the Proform 6.0ES for its comfort, lumbar support and easy to use adjustment lever. The iPod/MP3 jack and speakers are also a nice option although this is becoming fairly common on most mid-range and better stationary bikes.

The quality and warranty on this bike is very good so it really comes down to the console and optional motivational features for this bike.

When you want a good quality, mid-range recumbent bike with the more current Proform console and like the iFit Live options, this bike is worth looking into.
