Busse Woods Bike Trail - Photos 1
from the Elk Herd off of Arlington Heights Road

Here's where I started the Busse Woods ride at the
Elk Herd (just off of Arlington Heights Road, north of the Higgins road intersection)
Although I took the main loop to the right (counter clockwise) from the Elk Heard, I
started off to the left to check out the elk heard. The fenced area on the left (above) is
the elk heard area.
There really are elk in Elk Grove! It was actually hard to get this shot of the elk
since they were off in the woods in the distance when I started the ride (around 1:00).
When I got back (around 4:30) they were much more visable (but my camera battery was dead
by then... :-( )
This is the bridge that goes over Higgins Road (Route 72) looking south (The last photo
in the tour is of this bridge looking north at the end of the ride...). I remember walking
and riding on this trail BEFORE the bridge was built... and waiting to cross Higgins... It
is WAY nicer having this bridge!
Here's where the path winds through one of the wooded areas (at mile marker 4). I have
turned around at this point and am going off to the right (north initially) from the
elk herd (I'll take the red loop this direction for the rest of the trip).
Here's an opening at one of the groves that goes back into the woods. these is parking
along this area (accessable from Higgins road).
