Different Bike Types

I can't tell you what kind of boat this was but we rode right along side of this guy for a while on our Bike the Drive route (we were faster (and we weren't even going that fast as far as bike speeds go).

What I thought was interesting here is that you have the entrance ramp to Chicago's Lake Shore Drive on the right but you don't have to worry about traffic since the drive is closed down to automotive traffic. What a nice feeling that was.

Here we have another little kid beating the peloton once again. Alright kid!

We stopped at the bottom of another (less steep) hill with a view of Lake Michigan in the background for some more cyclists photos.

A short wheel based recumbent and rider with Lake Michigan in the background. There are quite a few different recumbent bike designs but I think that some of the more common designs are Short Wheel Base (SWB where the front wheel is below the pedals) and Long Wheel Base (LWB where the pedals are behind the front wheel). I usually specifiy which kind I am refering to.

Another short wheel based recumbent with what looks like some kind of storage compartment in back.

Here's a tandem recumbent (in the back) with an upright bike with trailer bike attached essentially converting it into a tandem upright bike. Sheesh! Like I said, you get a little of everything out here.

A close up of the tandem recumbent. I've actually not seen this kind of recumbent before. With this tandem setup, it looks like the back rider has kind of a long wheel base position and the front rider has a short wheel base position (with the wheel under the pedals.

This was a friendly couple on what looks to me to be a couple of Folding Bikes. Another interesting thing about this photo is you can see 2 Elliptical Bikes in the background also!

This looks like a comfortable bike. It is a long wheel based recumbent, which my friend Dale also rides. I have ridden the SWB and LWB recumbents and prefer this style of recumbent the best myself.
