Fuji Sunfire Hybrid Review

I'm not sure why Fuji bikes are not more popular than they are in the US. Fuji has high quality bikes with excellent components that last forever! I had the opportunity to review a number of Fuji bikes on a recent trip to Performance Bike and to talk to a very knowledgeable sales person about comfort and hybrid bikes and specifically about the Fuji Sunfire Hybrid Bike. Fuji Sunfire Hybrid Bike

When I asked about the best hybrid bikes in the store, the Performance guy told me that the Fuji Sunfire was best hybrid bike that they sell and after reviewing this bike and testing the components on a number of Fuji bikes, I would have to agree.

Fuji calls this bike a "Trail Hybrid" bike, while Performance Bike calls it a "Trekking Bike". Although, you sit in a comfortable upright position on this bike, I consider this bike to be a true Road/Mountain Hybrid bike rather than a comfort bike.

For more serious riders, this bike can handle touring and long distance rides, comfortably, and can handle paved, crushed stone, grass, or fairly rugged dirt bike trails.

The Fuji Sunfire has a comfortable seat/saddle, front and rear suspension, Shimano rapid fire shifter lever and multipurpose Continental Country Ride tires that are smooth enough to reduce rolling resistance on the road, yet provide good traction for your offroad trips.

Note: The 2011 Fuji Sunfire 3.0 is sold out (previously selling for $499.99) at Performance Bike with free shipping options.

See the Schwinn Voyager 7 for our Best Buy replacement of this bike.

Fuji Sunfire Model Comparisons:

As with most Fuji Bikes, the 2009 Sunfire has 3 price/component levels. The prices go down as the level goes up so the Sunfire 1.0 is the most expensive and the Sunfire 3.0 is the least expensive.

The differences for the Sunfire are primarily with the fork, derailleurs, shifters and brake components. Although you will get better components with the more expensive models, even the least expensive model has better components than most other bikes in this price range.

See the Performance Bike links (above) for their automated comparison feature to see the specific details.

Hybrid bikes, including the Fuji Sunfire are an excellent choice for a combination of road and off road riding.

Hybrid (Road/Mtn) Bike Comparisons:

You can find some cheaper brands of hybrid bikes (at Wal-Mart for example) but you will usually "get what you pay for" and will not be able to find the same quality as you will get with Fuji bikes for a slightly higher price.

About-Bicycles Review:

Fuji bikes, in general, are excellent quality and very reasonably priced. I rode a friends Fuji, (that he had for years, then finally donated in perfect condition) and have reviewed and tested others and the Sunfire is no exception to their standards of quality.

I can easily recommend the Sunfire as one of the best hybrid bikes available.
